Draught Proofing

With sash windows being inherently draughty, rattly, hard to open and close, Sash Window Solutions draught proofing system virtually eliminates this while retaining the original aesthetics of the window.

With ever increasing heating and energy bills this is an option we regularly carry out.

We use a brush system which replaces the beading inside and outside the window, made to exactly match the original. The meeting rail between the 2 sashes is also routed out to house the draught proofing.

English Heritage released findings that:

“Air infiltration can be reduced as much as 86% by adding draught proofing”.

Our system is conservation and listed building approved and gives a vast improvement on thermal performance.

When we draught proof windows we don’t just replace the beading like other companies. We completely overhaul the window including:

• Completely sanding  back old paint from the windows.
• Stripping paint from the side reveals to aid fluidity of window operation and dramatically improve the aesthetic appearance. (Another process only Sash Window Solutions does)
• Apply new wax to side reveals
• Replacement of old cords
• Service pulleys and strip back old brass fittings
• Renewal of old failing putty
• Renovation of the existing sash box to improve appearance.
