Double Glazing

Sash Window Solutions was the first company in East Anglia to offer double glazing of your original sash windows without the disruption of changing your complete boxed sash.

With ever increasing heating and energy bills this is another option we regularly carry out.

Our double glazing not only adds massive thermal and sound performance, it also helps eliminate condensation on windows and is conservation approved.

We also add our full draught proofing system when we double glaze sash lites again greatly improving thermal performance.

We offer 2 options of double glazing your existing windows.

Option 1

We use your existing sash frames, and rout out the rebates to allow a slim lite double glazed unit to fit with a unit thickness of as little as 10mm.

With the narrow edge of a slim lite unit the aesthetics of the original are fully maintained while increasing thermal and sound proofing performance, with no change to the ratios or appearance of the windows and maintaining the original sash box.

Option 2

We manufacture new frames to fit the existing sash box. These are made to exactly match the originals with all proportions kept.

They are scribed in on site to match any old movement in the sash box to ensure a perfect fit with no gaps.

These are fitted with standard 14mm double glazed unit so have a slightly better thermal rating.

All our new joinery is made using sustainably sourced timber and fully pressure treated. We can manufacture new joinery in any timber requested by the customer.

The benefit of this option is your windows look brand new but are an exact copy of the originals. It is the best available thermal performance option.

We notice many new timber windows look out of place with incorrect proportions which is why we pay particular attention to detail in maintaining the original architectural proportions.
